MRF (Materials Recovery Facility)

MRF (Materials Recovery Facility) also called as materials recycling facility or materials reclamation facility is a specialized plant that receives, separates and prepares recyclable waste materials for marketing to end – user manufacturers. Implementation of MRF is very strict for it encompasses the health aspect of the plant premises.

There are two different types of MRF (Materials Recovery Facility)
1. Clean MRF - A clean MRF accepts recyclable waste materials that have been already separated at the source from municipal solid waste generated by either residential or commercial sources.

2. Dirty MRF – A dirty MRF accepts a mixed solid waste stream and process it to separate out designated recyclable materials through the combination of both manual and mechanical sorting.

As an end result, MRF (Materials Recovery Facilities) are proposed to end improper waste management era. As we all know, a lot of resolutions have been proposed and implemented, however, up to this time there is no firm answer yet to this stinking problem until MRFs are proposed to be built in different cities in the Philippines. San Fernando City in Pampanga is one of the few cities in the country that was permitted to establish their very own MRF. This MRF plant is set to operate this year. It aims to attend both environmental and green energy concerns. With MRF all throughout the country, its escalating waste impediment is a thing that doesn’t have to worry about anymore. Land depletions due to excavating landfill and waste depots will no longer be a torment for every city.
