Just recently, an article about an eco – friendly billboard was featured on Adweek Magazine’s Web site. According to the article, Coca – cola just unveiled a new 60 x 60 billboard in the Philippines. So what is new? Coca – cola has billboards everywhere!
Here is the catch, Coca – Cola’s new billboard was covered in Fukien tea plants, which absorb pollution. What a great idea! Finally, the initiative to Go Green has been given away by a huge company.
We are all aware of the escalating and fast – paced Global Warming and by doing innovative things with a greener cause, a tremendous impact of resolution is obtainable.
The exceptional advertisement does not only promote eco – friendliness, it also helps to clean our Earth’s air – literally. Each of the plants, will absorb up to 13 pounds of carbon dioxide every year, therefore in a year, it can absorb a total of 46, 800 of Carbon Dioxide from the atmosphere of the Earth.
The “eco – friendliness” does not end there! Did you know that the rest of the billboard parts were as eco – friendly? The plants contained in 3, 600 pots are actually made up by old Coke bottles. These improvised pots are actually designed to help grow plants sideways.
The potting assortment was made from industrial byproducts and organic fertilizers. And a drip irrigation system was installed, which saves water and fertilizer by allowing water to drip gradually to the roots of the plants, through a complex of valves, pipes, tubing, and emitters.
The goal of the billboard according to Nudd’s article is to inspire Filipinos to integrate sustainability in everything they do. Hopefully the message of the Coca – Cola Billboard will be well – received and may it inspire us to be more responsible.
Do not be afraid to Go Green. You do not have to be the owner of Coca – Cola just to Go Green. In your own simple way, you can also help aid the ecological catastrophes in our planet.
