Earth Day, it’s every day!

Earth day is every day. Millions are participating on yearly's earth day; why not make it every day? Here are some acts that can be done in uniting with the Earth day everyday campaign of SBSC (Spectrum Blue Steel Corporation).

1. Switch to renewable and green energy

2. Recycling paper, plastic and aluminum.

3. Conserve water and electricity.

4. Never throw used up batteries in the trash. They contain mercury, a hazardous substance that will leak into groundwater or be burned and released into the air.

5. Refrigerator temperatures should be set at about 40 degrees, give or take a degree or two. Freezer temps between 0 and 5 degrees are just right. Colder settings waste energy and won't help food.

6. Buy green household products as constant as possible.

7. Start gardening to lessen the pollution, plant vegetables using organic fertilizers.

8. Minimize the use of your air-condition.

9. Shut off all power in your home for at least an hour each day.

10. Teach your children to respect the earth, reduce, reuse, recycle and live gently.

11. Use organic cotton crochet facial scrubs instead of buying the cotton ones you throw away after each use.

12. Avoid using disposable materials on birthday parties or any other occasions.

13. Ever wonder if you should leave the car running while you wait for the kids to be dismissed from school? Leave it on if you'll be there less than a minute, otherwise it is more efficient to turn it off and restart it when you're ready to go.

14. Avoid using dryers and hang your clothes instead.

15. When building or remodeling our homes, for example, we can use earth friendly products including flooring made of cork or bamboo -- both renewable resources.

16. Our product choices, packaging, reusing, and recycling are all areas that affect our homes. Some of the things we can do will take very little time. Other choices will require research, persistence, and conscious effort.

17. Switch to rechargeable batteries or collect used batteries in a shoebox out in the garage, clearly marked. Then take them to a recycling facility once or twice a year.

18. Quite smoking.

How about you? What can you contribute? Earth day is not only during 22nd of April, let us all go green!

Participate on Earth Day: Do something at home to reduce your carbon footprint!

You do not have to go to earth day events just to participate on the upcoming earth day this April 22. You can show sympathy to mother earth by doing simple acts at the comfort of your very home.

These are few of the things you can do in order to involve yourself on the earth’s special day that will lead to carbon reduction:

1. Replace frequently used light bulbs with compact florescent bulbs - this will contribute to the reduction of your carbon footprint by 450 pounds per year.

2. Drive a fuel efficient car or use a public transportation vehicle - this will reduce your carbon footprint by 1 pound for every mile that you do not drive.

3. Get better gas mileage and keep your tires properly inflated, change your car’s air filter regularly, run your dishwasher only when it is full - by doing those things, it will reduce your carbon footprint for another 20 pounds for each gallon of gas saved.

4. Move your heater thermostat down two degrees in winter and up to two degrees on summer times, make sure that your printer paper is 100% post consumer recycled - these simple acts will effectively reduce your carbon footprint by 2,000 pounds.

5. Replace dirty air conditioner filters as recommended or keep you’re your water heater insulated and the thermostat no higher than 120°F. Take shorter showers or use a low-flow shower head - 350 pounds a year will be reduced to your carbon footprint.

6. Use only cold water to wash your clothes- it reduce carbon footprint by 500 pounds a year.

7. Buy products that use less packaging and recycle paper, glass and plastic. Buy organic food because the chemicals used in modern agriculture pollute the water supply, and require energy to be produced - this will reduce your garbage by 10 % and you will reduce your carbon footprint for 1,200 pounds per year.

8. Weatherize and insulate your home, and consider double pane windows. Plant a tree because trees suck up carbon dioxide and make clean air for us to breath. Turn off what you’re not using and even unplug electronics you’re not using them. Buy energy efficient appliances - reduce your carbon footprint by thousands of pounds a year.

TGEG (True Green Energy Group) unites on the upcoming Earth Day 2010 by continuously promoting world power and green technologies globally.
